Journeying with a Chemical Straightened Hair🕊

Hey Girl, Welcome Here💜

Happy having you here and hope to serve you well🕊

Here is a brief look at journeying with a chemical straightened hair which can also be called a Relaxed /Permed hair

Individuals have their personal reasons of choosing to adapt a Permed Hair

And Permed Hair textures are really beautiful🕊

Having a Permed Hair?

A Permed hair can be described as hair that has been treated with chemicals that straightens curly hairs by breaking the bonds in the Hair shafts.

The chemicals used to treat the hairs alter the texture of the natural Hair strands by breaking the bonds in them and straightening the strands.

Permed Hairs require touch ups over a given period of time to keep the natural hair that grows overtime in a permed condition as well for an even hair look.

Should One really keep a Permed Hair?

As humans, We all have different drives that influence our decisions

Making a decision to keep a Permed Hair or Natural Hair should be a Personal one

However It’s best to decide to keep what you are best satisfied with. Permed Hairs are really great when maintained well and treated healthy.

One can choose to keep Permed Hair for easier hair management (mostly for hairs difficult to style and brush out neatly)

One can choose keeping Permed Hairs as a personal style

Some choose to Permed Hairs to achieve longer Hair lengths

Whichever reason one chooses, Keeping Permed Hair in healthy conditions should be a focus.

Keeping strands strong and healthy should also be a focus as due to the chemical treatments applied to hair strands, Hairs are more susceptible to breakages and damage if not managed with care

Scalp Care should also be taken important during application of chemicals and the scalp skin is tender and softer.

Leaving chemical in for long time period can cause hair damages and scalp burns.

Choosing Chemical Straighteners/Relaxers

Yessss!

The nature of chemical straighteners one chooses to adapt should also be taken into consideration

A person with a natural thin and soft hair nature will require chemical straighteners with less strength than a person with natural thick and difficult hairs.

Consulting a dermatologist or Hair specialist will help one make reliable decisions when choosing a Chemical straightener.

Notwithstanding, It is best to choose chemical straighteners that are compatible with one’s hair type.

The amount of active chemicals in a Chemical straightener determines its strength.

Perming

Usage instructions often accompanies most hair perming chemicals. Choosing to read instructions and adhering to them will help one achieve the great results when using Perming chemicals in hair.

Light coat of petroleum jelly when applied to scalp before applying perming chemicals acts as a barrier and could protect the scalp from burns

Avoiding application of perming chemicals when scalp is distressed (inflamed, Irritated) will help manage scalp health and prevent further damages

Living with a Permed Hair

Choosing to adapt a permed Hair keeps one with the awareness that chemicals have been applied to achieve permed texture

And chemicals could be damaging if not properly used

Permed Hairs require accountability and proper care to keep it in Healthy conditions.

~ Using a Sulfate Free Shampoo

Sulfates act as cleaning agents in detergents, soaps and cleaning substances. Sulfates are vigorous in removing dirts and oils.

Shampoos with sulphate are suitable for maintaining some particular hair types. However there shouldn’t be consistent use of shampoos containing sulphate

Mild shampoos will do great on permed hairs without stripping natural hair oils. The chemicals used to Permed Hair has stripped strands elasticity so they can’t hold oils/water in like natural hairs will do

Gentle, sulfate-free hair shampoos will help maintain the moisture balance of a Permed Hair.

~ Moisturizing Hair

Keeping Hair moisturized will help compensate for the dryness Perming Chemicals cause on Hair.

Also moisturizing hair after shampooing helps restore hydration to Hair.

Deep Conditioners and Light oils that will penetrate hairs can be utilized to achieve silky and soft tresses.

~ Create a limit to the use of Heat Styling Tools

Adapting usage of Heat Stylers on permed hairs can cause damage and excess hair thinning. To prevent strands weakening and unhealthy strand ends, choosing to abstain from heat styling tools should be considered.

And Keeping strong strands is a key goal when keeping permed hair. Much as styling is cherished , No one really likes hair breakage and damage.

~ Hydration and Managing stress

Yes, Stress influences hair health and dehydration often accompanies stress. Choosing to cut down on stressful living and adapt frequent hydration will impact hair health.

~ Trimming uneven and dead hair ends

Trimming uneven and lifeless hair ends will help one attain an even looking Permed Hair.

And when one adapts trimming lifeless ends, It is easier to detect hair breakage.

~ Using Heat Protectants on scalp before applying chemical straighteners

Heat Protectants will help protect scalp from heat damage and burns.

~ Choosing to get involved in one’s Hair journey

Yeah, Personal research and study of one’s concerns helps one develop best strategies that work best for one’s hair. Getting involved in choosing styles, chemical straighteners, hair stylists,Hair products and all will amount to a thriving journey.

We can all get involved in our Hair Journeys if we really want to.

The little and consistent efforts we put when gathered together will amount to a lot.

If you have hair goals, You can go after them

Be consistent, patient and do it right 💜

Permed Hairs are beautiful and can be Healthy💜

OILY SCALP

Hello Friend,🕊

Welcome to HerHairline’s blog, She’s is here as a friend to you on your hair journey and She loves to have you here 💜

Here in this post, HerHairline will be sharing some vitals which will focus on OILY SCALP. Trust you’ll be able to get some basic tips and information that will be beneficial to your hair journey.

Understanding our scalps play a major role in the way we attend to its needs, A diligent approach to the study of how our scalp and hair shows up helps us in providing a healthy journey for our hairs.

Scalp types vary for different individuals and several factors influence how scalp skin shows up and functions. At some point in our lives, we get to experience changes in our scalp outlook which occur due to certain factors.

Dry Scalp, Oily Scalp, Sensitive Scalp, Normal Scalp, Mixed/Combination Scalp type are the most common classifications guides.

WHAT SHOULD I KNOW ABOUT MY OILY SCALP?

The sebaceous gland beneath the scalp skin produces a natural oil called sebum which keeps the scalp moisturized and protects the scalp from infections.

Sebum is a complex mixture of fatty acids, sugars, waxes and other natural chemicals that form a protective barrier against water evaporation.

Whenever the scalp skin doesn’t have enough sebum, it loses water and feels dry. The sebaceous gland plays an important role in helping with determining the nature of One’s scalp.

The rate at which the sebaceous gland produces oil differs for different individuals and is influenced by various factors.(internal or external factors).

OILY SCALP

An oily scalp is very oily and is often characterized with Slick Hair.
Oily Scalp is caused by hyperactive sebaceous glands lying beneath the scalp. The hyperactive sebaceous gland leads to excess sebum secretion.

Excess sebum secretion by the sebaceous gland often causes the oily scalp and in severe cases the excess sebum produced clogs the hair roots and likely causes loss of hair strands and dandruff could develop.

Oily scalp could be pretty inconvenient and tiring to maintain and this creates desperation to look for ways to stop the oiliness, However while dealing with oily scalp, an approach to studying and making observations can help one with the right maintenance and effective care procedures for the oily scalp.

Well, everyone’s sebaceous gland can produce excess sebum at some points in their lives which could be contributed by a lot of factors. For some people, It comes and go. For some people, It lasts for long periods of time.

HOW HORMONAL IMBALANCE CONTRIBUTES TO OILY SCALP

Hormones are chemical substances that act as messenger molecules in the body. Hormones are produced, stored and released into the blood by Endocrine Glands.

Hormones contained in our bodies has an influence on how our scalp shows up. Hormonal Imbalance occurs when there is little or more than required hormone in the blood stream. Hormone Imbalance often occurs as a result of changes in the body. Some changes our bodies undergo may affect the operations of our hormones.

Hormones help regulate appetite, heart rate, sleep cycle, body temperatures, metabolism, mood and stress levels and general growth and development. In this hormones can affect the rate at which the sebaceous gland produces sebum. And if hormones cause the sebaceous gland beneath the scalp skin to become hyperactive (produce sebum at higher rates than necessary), It will result in Oily scalp.

Because of how important hormones are to our body functioning, little imbalances in their function can cause irregularities in our body’s general make up.

Factors like menstruations, medications, puberty, pregnancy, stress, poor dieting, aging and poor lifestyle can influence Hormonal Imbalance.

Pretty lot of factors influencing hormonal Imbalance are natural body changes which happens in every human at some point in life. Every body reacts uniquely to hormonal changes.

However some factors causing hormonal changes can be addressed positively.

Healthy Sleeping patterns, Managing Stress, Engaging in healthy body exercises, Consuming healthy meals and fats, Consuming adequate protein according to body requirements and cultivating an Healthy lifestyle can help regulate hormonal functions.

This helps influence our scalp health and general body health positively.

HOW STRESS CONTRIBUTES TO OILY SCALP

Stress is the way the body responds to physical, emotional, and psychological strains. Changes in body functioning that causes excess strain often results in stress. When stress lasts for a long time without been checked, It often results to causing alterations to normal body functions.

Cortisol is the primary stress hormone. It increases sugars (glucose) in the bloodstream, enhances your brain’s use of glucose and increases the availability of substances that repair tissues. Cortisol is know to affect the function and cyclic regulation of hair follicles

High level of Cortisol can affect the rate at which the sebaceous gland functions. It can cause the sebaceous gland to become hyperactive and may cause it to function lessees than required. When the sebaceous gland below the scalp skin become hyperactive, it often results into oily scalp.

Managing Stress will help regulate the frequency at which one develops high levels of Cortisol. Including rests between physical activities that likely cause strains will help in managing stress.

OTHERS!

~  Lifestyle and daily habits can influence oily scalps.

~  Weather and atmospheric conditions also play a part in the cause of Oily scalp

When the atmosphere is too dry,
It dehydrates the scalp and this can sebaceous glands beneath the scalp to produce sebum at an increased rate to compensate the rate at which the sebum is lost.
This way the body reacts to this differs for different people, Some body systems produce lesser, Some produce more, Some overproduce sebum.
The Over production of this Sebum can cause Oily Scalp

~  Harsh Products that strips off natural sebum can cause the sebaceous gland to respond in an hyperactive way

~  Stressing Hair care routines

~  Genes and hereditary (one’s genetic make up)

~  Applying Excess oils and Products
Oils attracts diets easily, Applying excess could make the dirts clog the pores on the scalp skin and hence the scalp isn’t able to absorb the oils and thus it may cause oily scalp

MAINTAINING AN OILY SCALP

Maintaining an Oily Scalp seems like a whole lot of work,
The maintenance adapted often depends on how Oily the scalp is.

Much as maintaining may seem straining, It is important to maintain to avoid the oils from clogging the pores on our scalp skin.

~ Suspecting the Cause of oily scalp;

Discovering what resulted into oily scalp can help with choosing the most suitable  method one adapt to maintain it

~ Making Right Choices

While working on maintaining an Oily scalp, I feel it is important to consider the choices we make at that point and how it affects our scalp health
It’s important not to just pick tips up from everywhere and use.
It is better to carefully examine the choices and decision and consider how they will contribute to effective maintenance.

~ Consistency and Patience

Most healthy methods requires time, consistency and care, So striving to be consistent with whatever method and to be patient with the results it is producing

~ Consulting a Dermatologist to help with picking shampoo contents

~ Studying how one’s lifestyle can contribute as an helping hand

~ Avoiding Excess Alcohols and Excess Hair products

~  Maintain an healthy wash routine

~  Using shampoos with contents that clean dirts and not strip off hair oil. (Carefully selecting shampoo)

~  Healthy Diet

~  Brushing hair carefully in a way to spread the oil to other hair parts and massaging oil to other hair parts

~  Find fun in process girl💜
